In a way I am excited about what the next stage of life has to offer but at the same time I am FREAKED out!! I just can't seem to believe how 30 years went by so fast. Actually--the first 20 seemed to take forever but the last 10 flew right by. I feel like I just graduated from high school and in reality I graduated from college, taught school and now am a stay-at-home mom. I guess I accomplished a little bit in those 10 years. The next 10 years, in my mind, are even more important. I say that because these next 10 years are the foundation for my children. What I do, say, don't do, don't say is going to impact their lives. That is a scary thought!! As I move on to the big 3-0 I am going to determine to love God more and show His love to my children. Come on 30--I'm ready!

All Better

It is amazing how fast kids bounce back to themselves. We had a limited amount of time between naps and Glenn needing to be at the homeless shelter so we figured a quick run to the mall would suffice. It did--it was nice to get out and just spend time together. When we got to the mall I was quick to notice that we don't exactly "fit in". We aren't all that stylish and we decided to bring two strollers instead of the double. Sounds fine but David look ginormous in that little stroller and the other stroller is all dirty. We were talking about it on the way to the car and then Glenn said--hey at least we are happy. I have thought about that simple statement many times today--at least we are happy. All those people may have stuff to make them feel better but I have the best kids and husband ever. I am totally in love with the man I married and thankful to God for the family he has given us. I don't need the coolest clothes or the most expensive stroller--I am just thankful for a life filled with love. It's funny how having kids changes your mind about what is important. My two favorite parts of the day are cuddling with David in the morning to watch Little Einsteins and seeing Annabelle wake up with her toothless grin. I know to those two kiddies I am pretty cool.

Potty Training

I give up!!! I know it is horrible but Monday was a bit too much for me. Started off awesome and then I decided to let David play with play dough. He loves play dough and was so intent that when I went to have him go potty he was already wet--everywhere and so was the high chair. No problem--I took him to the bath got him all cleaned up and then we headed to the back yard. I scrubbed the high chair and then once that was done decided to get things ready for lunch. David wanted to play outside--fine with me. As I am chopping carrots he comes slipping into the kitchen--no joke slipping. I go to see what caused the slippage and low and behold he had pooped outside, walked through it and was now using it to paint my kitchen floor. Nice--bath number two and it wasn't even noon yet. So I decided we both needed a break--more me than him.
On another not Annabelle is starting to "talk" more and more. It is co cute to watch her smile at everyone and ooh and ahh. Annabelle slept from 8:30 last night until 6 this morning--no wonder I feel rested. I decided to start the potty training. Maybe I am losing my mind and maybe David isn't really ready but I am so tired of poopy diapers I figured I might as well. So far, so good. We have only been at it for a couple hours but he is doing very well. Let's see how long this lasts :)

For Real

Okay--so this is "for real". I am going to start blogging again--well at least try to start blogging again. I figure that I can write something down and then go back to refresh my memory. Seems that if I don't write things down then I don't remember. Today was rather uneventful. A college friend of mine has been visiting with us while getting ready to go to the mission field and now she is gone. I am sure David will miss his playmate. Today I am thankful that I get to be a stay-at-home mom. I may not have all the newest and coolest things but I get to spend all day with the people I love most. Today I was playing with Annabelle and just loved how she cracked up when I blew on her belly or tickled her. Having children is really teaching me a lot about enjoying the here and now and all that the Lord provides.

Separation Anxiety--so they say

Well, David is growing that much is true. He seems to be learning new things everyday and becoming more independent--sort of. I am having a bit of a struggle getting away--even to take a shower without him screaming for the entire time. He even does this when his dad is home--can't figure that one out for the life of me. My question is what am I suppose to do? I try to bring him to the gym while I work out but he screams--and I mean screams--until they have to come get me. My family live out of state and I am do not really know many people with children David's age.
We found out last week that we are expecting baby #2 so I am sure that will change the dynamic of the house a bit. I am looking forward to seeing yet another miracle that God has given to our family. What a great God we serve who is willing to let us enjoy so many things in life and allows us to love like we could never imagine and to see His hand in creation with the gift of a life!! I think that my last post was about a month ago. A lot of things have happened in that month!! David has changed so much and is beginning to be more active. Yesterday he moved from the typical gaa sound to baa and maa. It sounds as if he is saying mama and bye bye. I know that he isn't really saying these things but it is so cute. He has also become more active. No, he isn't crawling but when he starts I have a feeling that my daily routine will be much busier. He can sit up perfect now--what a man!! He looks so cute when he sits up and his little belly is pooching out. I love being his mommy and I sure treasure every moment that I get to spend with him.
David and I are in Michigan for a couple of weeks of vacation. I admit that it is nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of California and smell the cool clean air (literally). Sometimes I miss it here so much. I think that what I like is the smell of the fresh air, the slower pace of life, visiting with family, and of course Lake Michigan!! I love taking walks along Lake Michigan. There is something about walking on the beach and hearing the waves crash and the birds in the distance that just makes me feel so peaceful. I get kind of sad that David has to grow up in a place that is so busy and may never get to enjoy the "finer" things in life. By finer things I mean getting to spend time in the woods on the four wheeler, hunting during the crisp fall days, fishing on a cool morning, sitting around the campfire and just having family to hang out with. I miss getting to be with my Mom and Dad and Amanda. It makes me sad that they live so far away. I know that they wish David was closer--they would have a blast with him. Anyway, Dorothy was right when she said there is no place like home. Even with that being said, I would rather be with my husband anywhere in the world than to be at the place I call home.

I love my family

We went on our date night last Saturday and it was a blast!! Funny that going out to eat and to a movie can be so different without a baby. We had a good time just being together. I truly am blessed with a wonderful husband. David was really good too--He didn't cry until he saw me come back and that was only because it was time for him to eat.
I can tell that my little baby is getting bigger. He can sit up now--without my assistance. He sometimes topples over but what can you expect when your head is a third the size of your body!! I just can't believe how fast the last 6 months have gone by.
We started youth group last night and it was awesome!! There were anywhere from 38-56 kids at any given time. That was AWESOME!! Lord willing we will be able to reach a lot of kids with the Gospel of Christ. At the end of the night we were all on top of the world!
Then there is the Kolosey family--man are they a messed up family. They have nine kids--number ten on the way--and they live in a 2 bedroom house. The brothers treat each other like dirt and treat the mom like a piece of trash. I just want to take them in and keep them. Living like that has to mess a person up.

Second Tooth

David's second tooth made an appearance yesterday!! This one has caused a bit more fussiness and irritability but I must admit that I do not blame him. We gave him mangoes for the first time and he was not too thrilled. I thought for sure that he would love them but he actually refused to eat--I think that they were a bit too bitter for his taste buds. Needless to say I am going to try again today and see how it goes.
Glenn made my day yesterday--he called to tell me he was thankful for me. Sometimes I feel like I work my tail off cleaning, cooking, and taking care of David with no appreciation BUT I was wrong. I guess guys and gals just don't think alike--who would have ever thought that. :) So today all the house is clean and I think that I am going to kick back and enjoy playing with my little man. Maybe we'll even go for a walk.

First Tooth

Yesterday the thing I have been waiting for finally happened--David's first tooth broke through. It is the bottom left side--next should be another bottom tooth. The bonus was that he really wasn't fussy like everyone tells you they will be. As a matter of fact the only reason I checked to see if there was a tooth was because of the amount of drool coming from his mouth!! We are working on getting him to sit up on his own. He kind of has the concept and then he topples over...it is cute. I am going to keep putting him in the sitting position and hopefully that will build strength.
We went to the doctor yesterday and David was suppose to have a cat scan. We refused the treatment due to radiation exposure. I am no expert but I can't seem to think that it is ok to have even a small amount of radiation for no purpose. We will see our primary pediatrician July 16th and see if she feels it is necessary--in the meantime--no cat scan for David.
On another note Glenn and I get to go on a "date" this Saturday. I say "date" because all it really is is going out to dinner without David--not really a date. It should be nice. I love being with the little man but it will be nice to get away for a little bit. This is the exact reason I am looking forward to going home in July--I think that I need a little break
--having a baby is a LOT of work. More on that topic later.....

Father's Day

Today was Glenn's first Father's Day. I think that he had a good one. David was such a good little man today--he made me proud. Glenn's uncle from Korea is in town so he spoke at the morning service. After church we all went to a Chinese restaurant. David let everyone hold him and was the life of the party. He was so good as he observed everything--he even let me eat!! He is changing every day and becoming more and more aware of things. We went to Glenn's dad's graveside today so we could introduce David Russell to his Grandpa Russell. Tears were coming to my eyes because Grandpa Russell never had the chance to meet his grandson. I think that he would have loved David and David would have loved him. Sometimes I think about how life for our family would be different if he were still alive. When I ask Glenn what he thinks all he says is that all that matters is that his dad is in Heaven. So simple so true.

Today is the Day.....

So, I have been thinking about starting a blog and today I finally put my thought to action. My life is not all too exciting but it is wonderful. I have a five month old son who brings me the greatest joy. I love to wake up in the morning and see his smiling face. No one can understand the love and joy a child brings until it has been experienced. I have the best husband ever!! He makes me smile with his silly antics. Seriously, if you met him he would bring a smile to your face--I am smiling just thinking about the goofy things he does.
I am going to write about our life in California. We are a fairly young couple with big dreams and a love for the Lord. In September 2006 we stepped out by faith to start a church--NorthCity Church. God has been good to us as we serve Him. On December 24th he gave us our son. As our boy is growing I want to keep a record of his accomplishments. So let the fun begin..........
